A few days late but I started the week off with some MTB action.  I sent out an Athens wide TXT message to my riding friends (well only 3 of them) that I was looking to ride at 2:30 since I got out of class at 2.  Well I got 2 no go's and one conformation so we planned to head to Dow lake for a lap around.

I've only ridden this trail once before and it was full of wet spots where it dipped down to the lake as well as being pretty well tore up from equestrians using the trail.  The first half of the loop is a very fast and low section that rolls right long the side of the lake.  A few climbs keep the heart rate up and quick downhills to keep the blood rushing.  My riding partner Bryan was riding a fully rigid Trek 6000ZX from the early 90's.  Last year I gave him a tune up and a set of my old tires but he is in desperate need of a new set as well as some clipless pedals.  Even though these are temporary fixes for the bike it will make his current riding experience much more enjoyable.

I was rocking the single speed like usual it was showing some signs of wear so looks like I'll need to give it a once over before the next ride.  After a few hairy downhills on the second half of the loop I only bailed out once but that was mainly due to trail damage from the horses.  We made it to a new section that went back up the hill and lead to some really great technical riding.  It was so much fun that I have decided to make it my solo training course and just ride it back and fourth until I get tired on my solo rides.  It mixes technical single-track with some interesting obstacles that keep you on your toes.  Well that's all I got another MTB session tomorrow (Wednesday) morning with Bryan maybe I'll come up with a more entertaining story after the ride.

Willis out!
